Soccer League (WVYSL) is a non-profit organization,
which has been serving the youth of West San Jose, Campbell, and
portions of Saratoga, Los Gatos, and
Cupertino since 1968. WVYSL is one of the
leagues under California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA) District
II.
WVYSL is affiliated with California
Youth Soccer Association (CYSA), US
Youth Soccer Association (USYSA), US Soccer and Federation Internationale
de Football Association (FIFA).
WVYSL has about 70 teams and 1,000
players. It is comprised of following programs
- Micro Soccer: Participants in
the U6 program play in the Micro Soccer format, with
small-sided games to encourage skill development.
- Recreational Playing:
WVYSL offers recreational soccer league for U8 to
U16. About 70% of WVYSL players play in the
recreational program. There are no tryouts to join a
recreational team. Every player in West Valley's recreational
program is guaranteed a minimum of 50% playing time.
- Competitive
(Division 3): Division 3 is the first level of competitive play.
These teams choose their players through tryouts.
This is usually the first step up from recreational
leagues, for children who want to further their
skills in a higher-level competition. Division 3
teams play in Delgado
League.
- Select (Davison
1): Division 1 is the highest
level of competitive play. These teams also select
their players through tryouts. The players at this
level tend to be very motivated and often play
soccer year-round as their primary sport. Division
1 teams play in Abronzino
League.
