Congratulations to Sunnyvale Medina Cup Finalists

Congratulations to our two Sunnyvale Medina Cup finalists:

WV United 09 White Boys played an incredible Sunntvale Medina Cup this past weekend, 9/23-24, 2017. As US Men’s Hockey Coach Herb Brooks once said “Great moments are born from great opportunity” that’s exactly what the boys did playing in the Medina Fall Classic. They played their hearts out and won all their games leading up to the final by flawlessly executing brilliant strategy laid out by Coach Winston, displaying ball control and team spirit.

The final was a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation play against a tough Santa Cruz Surf opponent who had given up 0 goals until this game. It came down to penalty kicks. Unfortunately, that broke against the boys this time. However, the boys’ team spirit won the hearts and minds of all. They’ll be back, looking for the championship next time. Bracket results are here.

The WV United 2006 boys were very excited to participate in this year’s Sunnyvale Medina Cup at Twin Creeks on Sept 23-24! It was their first tournament in the Silver Bracket!

The first game, on Saturday, was an intense, well fought 3-2 win over Alameda Islanders in a very technical game. The second game was a 2-0 win against East Bay Eclipse. On Sunday the boys opened the day with a solid 3-0 win over Mustangs 06B. It was on to the final with an impressive 3-0-0 record and two shutouts – nice work by the defense and talented goal keeper, Amon!

For the final, the WV United 06B was up against a very tough Monterey Bay Sharks team. The game was tied 0-0 down to the last quarter, when the Sharks pushed ahead with a strong long distance shot that went passed defense. With only 10 minutes left on the board, that was the only score of the game. The bracket results are here.

We are so proud of what this season has given our boys so far and looking forward to keep learning from our experiences! Go West Valley!
