Recreational soccer is offered for players U8 to U19 (participants in the U6 program play in Micro Soccer program, with small-sided games to encourage skill development.) There are no tryouts for the recreational program.
Registration is on a “first-come, first-served” basis. A player is assigned to a team based upon the date of registration and coach availability for the age group of the player. If an insufficient number of coaches volunteer, the players with later registration dates will be placed on a waiting list for the appropriate age group.
If a parent volunteers to coach or assistant coach, their child player is placed on their team regardless of the player’s registration date.

For safety reasons, CYSA and West Valley require all players to wear shin guards at every practice and game. Players without shin guards will not be allowed to play in any game. Socks should cover the entire shinguard for additional protection. Shoes with cleats are optional. Baseball cleats are not allowed. Parents provide the shin guards and shoes.
