Coaching Licenses

At the District meeting on May 8, 2001, mandatory levels were set for Class 1 and 3 coaches and their assistants for the 2002/2003 season. This gives coaches some time to get their required license.
  • For a Class 1 U16 and older, head coaches shall obtain a CYSA State D or higher.
  • For Class 1 and 3, head coaches shall obtain a CYSA E/D license.
  • For Class 1 and 3, assistant coaches shall obtain a CYSA F license.

If a current coach does not have the appropriate license, the coach will be required to obtain a new license each year until they have reached the required level. The District is aware that a large number of classes will need to be offered in the coming years to get all coaches to this level. The District will be offering more classes in the near future.

WVYSL would like to see all coaches (Class 4, 3, and 1) within West Valley have at least a CYSA F license. We would like to see Class 1 and 3 assistant coaches have at least a CYSA E license. That way if the head coach leaves the team, the assistant can become the head coach during the summer by completing the E/D course. Recreational coaches that plan to move to more competitive play need to plan ahead and get their licenses in order.
